Pentax HD 50mm F1.4 SDM AW Standard Lens

The Pentax Star series lens features a modified gauss-type rear focus-lens group and a group of aberration-correction elements in its front optical group, effectively compensating for aberrations. This ensures uniform resolving power and excellent color reproduction from the center to the edges of the image field. The lens's minimum focusing distance has been reduced to a mere 40 centimeters, and it incorporates a powerful high-torque ring-type Ultrasonic wave Motor SDM, which efficiently and smoothly shifts the heavy rear optical group for responsive high-speed autofocus operation.

The Pentax digital SLR K Series cameras are equipped with an in-camera shake reduction (SR) mechanism, which means that any lens compatible with the K-Series cameras will benefit from image stabilization, as the shake reduction is applied in the camera body.

This new-generation high-performance Pentax Star series lens delivers superb imaging quality and exceptional resolving power, thanks to Pentax's original lens coating technologies, including the latest Aero bright coating II and the high-grade HD coating. These coatings ensure exceptionally low reflectance and produce extra-sharp, high-contrast images that are free of flare and ghosting.

The lens boasts an extra-large F1.4 maximum aperture, making it useful for a wide range of subjects and applications, including portraiture with an effectively defocused background and hand-held shooting of indoor scenes or in low light conditions.

Featuring a dependable dustproof and weather-resistant structure with eight special seals, this lens is designed to withstand the elements. It also incorporates a newly developed ring-type ultrasonic wave Motor SDM, which generates as much as 7.5 times the torque of the conventional SDM installed in existing lenses.

The lens's rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces a natural, beautiful bokeh (defocused) effect up to an aperture of F2.8, while the Pentax-original SP coating, with its fluorine treatment on the front surface, prevents the adhesion of dust, water drops, grease, and other substances.

Featuring a KAF4 lens mount compatible with an electromagnetic diaphragm control system, this lens is compatible with the following Pentax cameras: K-1 Mark II, K-1, K-3 II, KP, K-70, K-3, K-S2, K-S1, and K-50. For the K-1, K-3 II, K-3, K-S2, K-S1, and K-50 cameras, the camera's firmware must be upgraded to the latest version.
