Pentax 50mm F1.4 Standard Lens for K-Mount DSLR Cameras

The HD PENTAX-FA 50mm F1.4 is a single-focus, standard lens designed for use with K-mount digital SLR cameras. It features the latest, high-grade, multi-layer HD Coating, ensuring high-contrast images with edge-to-edge sharpness. The HD Coating effectively reduces average reflectance and improves light transmittance, delivering clear, high-contrast images with minimal flare and ghost effects, even in demanding lighting conditions such as backlighting.

The lens's new exterior design is similar to the latest DA- and D FA-series lenses, while retaining the compact dimensions of its base model, the smc PENTAX-FA 50mm F1.4. When mounted on a PENTAX digital SLR camera body, this lens can be used as a 50mm standard lens in the full-frame format, or a 76.5mm medium-telephoto lens in the APS-C format.

The large F1.4 aperture produces images with a very shallow depth of field, allowing for a soft, natural bokeh (defocus) effect from the open aperture to F2.8. The eight-blade diaphragm control mechanism also minimizes the streaking effect of point light sources.

To enhance its durability and functionality, the lens features a water- and grease-repellent SP (Super Protect) Coating applied to the front surface, making it easier to wipe off water or stains.

Designed to be fully compatible with older K-mount digital SLR cameras and film-format AF SLR cameras, this lens allows the photographer to retain all camera functions, thanks to the aperture ring installed on the lens body and the mechanism designed to couple the lens with the camera's motor-driven, in-body AF system.
